HIGHLIGHTS as of October 1, 2014
In September, California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed legislation that amends the state’s contraceptive coverage requirements by requiring that health plans cover all contraceptive methods, including nonprescription methods and voluntary sterilization, without co-payments, restrictions or delays. The new law is designed to prevent plans from requiring a woman to try a different method before covering the woman’s first choice for contraception, or charging co-payments or denying coverage for methods such as the IUD, the ring and the patch.
